WHAT IS THYROID-TSH TEST FOR?
Thyroid-TSH Test verifies TSH levels in blood (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone), in order to highlight an alteration in the proper thyroid function. Checking the level of TSH value is a useful tool to check a potential hypothyroidism status.

WHAT IS THYROID?
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped endocrine gland, located in the front of the neck, which produces hormones that play a fundamental role in the development of different systems and in the metabolism control. The task of the TSH is to stimulate the thyroid function: an increase of its concentration in blood could indicate a reduction in thyroid activity, which can lead to a possible condition of hypothyroidism. WHEN SHOULD I DO THE THYROID-TSH TEST?
TSH screening should be performed in case of the above mentioned symptoms or family history of hypothyroidism. In particular, it is advisable to check the correct thyroid functioning during pregnancy, because its alteration could cause disorders in the correct development of foetus.
